Grounding

Grounding means every model claim is tied to a citable record, not to general training knowledge. Without it, a sales figure can sound plausible and still be false.

In distribution, grounding usually means an invoice, a campaign line, or a customer status. If the system cannot show the source row, the claim is not reliable.

It is done with retrieval, a deterministic query, or both. The goal is the same: the model must not invent a number from training memory.
