Prompt Injection

Prompt injection is when input text tries to override the system instruction, for example an invoice or customer email that says “ignore previous rules.” It is an attack on governance, not a normal question.

In distribution, inputs arrive from the ERP, spreadsheets, and free text. Any of them can carry a hidden instruction. Tool data must stay data, not orders.

A practical defense: keep the system instruction separate from retrieved content, and run deterministic policy after the model.
